These are all great ideas. I wish I had the time to really grind all of this content out and put it in the right places. Although it seems like the right places change every few years so you really have to be on top of it. I guess maybe my problem might be more that publishing content isn’t my primary job so I can’t dedicate the hours every day necessary to reach a Steve Van Meter level. Funny your remark on him. I was on his show a few years ago - it was very nice of him to invite me on but...

And then there’s George Gammon, a nice guy whose knowledge of macro probably isn’t much better than mine. He started putting up YouTube videos a couple years ago to explain economics to the plebs. He now has half a million subscribers on YT, 100k+ followers on Twitter. He created a paid subscriber platform where he sells access to Lyn Alden and some other fintwitter. My point is that the plebs should be hearing your content which is far superior, but you have to get it in front of them.

For instance, George Noble started a YouTube channel 6 months ago. He simply takes the audio from his Twitter Spaces events and slaps on a screenshot to create a video. Super easy to do and voila, he has almost 7k subscribers already. Steve Van Meter has been wrong about almost everything for as long as I can remember but his YouTube channel started trending in 2020 and now he has over 60k Twitter followers to whom he can sell his Portfolio Shield service.

I wasn’t aware you were an author. Just bought the kindle edition of Maestro My 😂 Apparently no kindle version of the other available on Amazon. Published by Wiley--impressive! There are folks on fintwit with far less useful expertise to share than you who have done an amazing job monetizing social media or at least using it to get their name out in front of a very large audience. But they generally use YouTube rather than a really obscure platform like which no one has heard of.

Yes, but the key is that it’s UNPAID continuing education. I have tried really hard over the years to justify my time on Twitter. I’ve tried calls to action to buy my book, to become a customer, to subscribe to a private Twitter feed...Over a decade, I haven’t been able to find anything useful from a business perspective. Which implies it is mainly an ego trip, and I already have plenty of ego! :-)

That’s a shame about Twitter. I love the site because where else can average Joe’s engage with leading experts in just about every field? It’s like continuing education for adults, except with real world practitioners rather than academics.
